35 Apartment Therapy Inspired Decor Ideas

A few months ago my wife and I started a new adventure: we moved out of our 800-square-foot apartment and bought a 2,300-square-foot house.
We were excited to have more space, but we quickly realized that we didn’t have all of the furniture and decor we needed for our new home.
To make matters worse, we were also on a tight budget.
So, we had to get creative. We made a list of everything we needed and then we started planning.
We decided to tackle our new home, one room at a time, and we started with the living room.
We wanted to create a warm and welcoming space that was also stylish and modern.
We scoured the internet for design inspiration and we found a home decor blog that we loved called Apartment Therapy.
We spent hours browsing the blog and we found so many great ideas for our new place.
We loved the simple, clean, and modern aesthetic of the spaces featured on
Apartment Therapy and we decided to use the blog as our main source of design inspiration.
We created a mood board for our living room and we started shopping for furniture and decor.
We found so many great pieces for our new home, and we were able to stay on budget.
We were so happy with how everything turned out, and we couldn’t have done it without Apartment Therapy.
We love our new house and we’re so grateful for all of the design inspiration we found on Apartment Therapy.
1. Add a pop of color to your walls

If you’re looking to add some personality to your space, consider adding a pop of color to your walls.
This can be as simple as an accent wall or as bold as a full room of color.
You can also use paint to create a custom design on your walls, like a mural or a half-painted wall.
If you’re renting and can’t paint your walls, you can still add color with peel-and-stick wallpaper or wall decals.
And if you’re not sure what color to choose, you can always look to your favorite pieces of art or furniture for inspiration.
2. Create a gallery wall

Gallery walls are a great way to fill a blank wall and add some personality to your space.
You can use a variety of art prints, photos, and other wall hangings to create a focal point in your room.
Pro Tip: Start by choosing the largest piece of art to be your center focal point.
Then, work around that piece with other art and photos of various sizes. You can also add in a few wall planters to fill out the space.
3. Add a touch of greenery

A pop of greenery can make all the difference in a room.
Whether you have a green thumb or tend to kill plants, there are so many ways to incorporate greenery in your space.
If you’re a plant parent, add a few more plants to your collection and consider adding a plant shelf or plant wall.
If you’re not, consider adding a small potted plant or two to your space. Faux plants are also a great option and look very realistic.
I love adding plants to spaces that feel a little too sterile, like a bathroom or a kitchen.
4. Use your home to tell a story

One of the best ways to make a house feel like a home is to use it to tell your story.
I love to do this by using family photos, heirlooms, and sentimental items to decorate our space.
You can also use color, texture, and furniture to tell a story.
For example, a space filled with vintage furniture and decor can tell the story of someone who loves to thrift and has an appreciation for the past.
A home filled with bright, modern furniture and decor can tell the story of someone who is creative and enjoys a fresh, clean aesthetic.
5. Hang some curtains

If you don’t have a curtain rod, you can hang curtains from a hook or a nail.
The curtains don’t need to cover the entire wall to make an impact.
This is a great way to add some color and texture to a room.
6. Add a DIY project

Apartment Therapy is a great place to find DIY project ideas.
Whether you want to update your furniture, create a statement wall, or add a pop of color to your space,
you can find a project that will fit your style and skill level.
Not only does a DIY project add a unique touch to your home, but it can also save you money.
Instead of buying a new piece of furniture or decor, you can make something that fits your space perfectly.
7. Use your favorite colors

A great way to make your house feel like a home is to use colors that make you happy.
I love the way this apartment uses different shades of blue to add color to the space.
The different patterns and textures also add interest and keep the space from feeling too monochromatic.
8. Get creative with your storage

Because of the open layout, this space didn’t have any pantry storage.
We used a small buffet to store dry goods, and then added a cabinet on the other side of the kitchen to store more items and house the microwave.
We also used a small cabinet to store tools and other items.
9. Add some texture to your walls

Blank walls can make a space feel cold and uninviting.
Combat that by adding some texture to your walls with a woven wall hanging, some macrame, or a tapestry.
You can also add some visual interest to your walls by creating a gallery wall with your favorite art, prints, and photographs.
10. Make your home a relaxing place to be

I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge fan of Apartment Therapy. I love the idea of making my home a relaxing place to be.
I’m the kind of person who loves to be home, but I want to make sure that my home is a place I love to be.
I love the idea of creating a space in my home that is cozy, comfortable, and relaxing.
I think I’ll start with my bedroom and then work my way through the rest of the house.
Conclusion
The best part of Apartment Therapy is the community. We are so grateful to each and every one of you for sharing your homes, your ideas, and your advice.
We hope you’ll continue to be a part of our community in the new decade. Cheers to 2020!
