10 Bedroom Makeover Ideas

We are so excited to finally share our bedroom makeover with you!

We moved into our house almost 3 years ago and our bedroom has been the one room that we just couldn’t get around to finishing.

It was the last room to be painted and then it just sat there. We had a dresser that we had bought from a garage sale and that was it.

We didn’t even have a bed frame! I’m not sure why we put our room on the back burner for so long,

but we are so happy that it’s finally done! It feels so good to have a room that is a reflection of our style and that is a place we can relax and unwind.

I’m so excited to share all of the details of our bedroom makeover with you! I’ve linked everything that we could find or something really similar.

1. Add a pop of color

Adding color in a small way can make a big impact.

You can go bold with your color choice, or you can choose a more neutral color to add some interest to your room.

I chose a neutral blue for the accent color in my room. I love how it adds a little something extra without being too bold.

If you’re not sure where to add color, try a throw blanket, a pillow, or a piece of artwork. You can always change it if you don’t like it!

2. Add a rug to your bedroom

A rug can make a big difference to your bedroom decor. It can add a pop of color or tie in the colors of your bedding and decor.

Plus, it’s a great way to add a cozy and soft texture to your bedroom.

In this bedroom design, the rug adds a touch of pattern and color to the space.

It’s a great way to bring in some additional colors and tie in the blues and pinks in the bedding.

3. Add a statement light fixture

A new light fixture can make a huge impact in any room, but especially in a bedroom.

A statement light fixture can act as a piece of art and set the tone for the entire room.

I found this beautiful chandelier on Etsy, and it was the perfect addition to my client’s bedroom.

It adds a touch of glam to the room and really helps to pull everything together.

4. Add a canopy bed to your bedroom

Canopy beds have made a comeback and we are so here for it.

This design trend can add a touch of elegance to your bedroom, and there are so many different styles to choose from.

In this bedroom by us, the dreamy canopy bed is the focal point of the room.

The brass accents of the bed frame are complemented by the brass light fixture, and the neutral color palette keeps the room looking light and airy.

5. Add a gallery wall

Whether you prefer a mix of art, mirrors, or photos, a gallery wall is a great way to fill up a blank space in your bedroom.

Plus, it’s an opportunity to add personality to your room.

When creating a gallery wall, stick to a color scheme and choose frames that are the same size or shape for a cohesive look.

If you’re working with a smaller space, a gallery ledge is a great way to display your favorite pieces without taking up too much room.

6. Add a headboard to your bedroom

A headboard is a great way to add a focal point to your bedroom, and it doesn’t have to be expensive.

You can make a DIY headboard using plywood and fabric, or even just hang a piece of art above your bed.

If you’re looking to make a bigger investment, a statement headboard can really transform your bedroom.

There are so many different styles to choose from, so you’re sure to find one that fits your aesthetic.

7. Add plants to your bedroom

Plants are a great way to bring life to a space, and that includes your bedroom!

Adding a few plants can help to freshen the air and make your room feel more inviting.

If you don’t have a green thumb, don’t worry! There are plenty of low-maintenance plants that are perfect for beginners.

Some of our favorites are snake plants, pothos, and peace lilies.

You can place your plants on your nightstand, dresser, or even hang them from the ceiling.

Just be sure to choose plants that are suited to the amount of light your bedroom gets.

8. Add a mirror to your bedroom

Mirrors are a great way to make a small space feel bigger and they also add a touch of glamour to a room.

In this bedroom, a large, round mirror is hung above the bed, creating a focal point and reflecting light throughout the space.

You can also lean a mirror against the wall, or choose a different shape or style to add a unique touch to your room.

9. Add a nightstand to your bedroom

If you’re looking to add a little extra storage to your bedroom, a nightstand is the perfect way to do so.

I love having a place to put a glass of water, a book or my phone as I’m winding down for the night.

And, if you have the space, you can even add two!

10. Add a bench to your bedroom

We love the idea of adding a bench to the foot of your bed. It’s a great way to add texture, color, and pattern to the room.

Plus, it’s a functional piece of furniture that can be used in other areas of the home.

You can find so many affordable benches in a multitude of styles. We love how this one adds a pop of color to the room.
