16 Guest Bedroom Ideas

This is a guest bedroom I recently had the opportunity to stage. It was a fun project because the room was already so beautiful.

I just wanted to share some photos of the room. I hope you enjoy it.

1. Make the space comfortable

The most important thing you can do to make your guest bedroom feel like a home away from home is to make the space comfortable.

This means choosing high-quality bedding, offering extra blankets and pillows, and making sure the mattress is in good condition.

If your guest room is furnished with hand-me-downs or mismatched furniture, consider investing in a new bed frame and nightstands.

You don’t have to spend a fortune to create a comfortable space, but a few well-chosen pieces can make a big difference.

You should also make sure there is enough storage space for your guests to unpack and make themselves at home.

A dresser or closet with hangers is a must, and you can also include a luggage rack or bench where guests can place their suitcases.

2. Include a place to sit

When designing a guest bedroom, you want to ensure that your guests have everything they need to feel comfortable.

That means providing a place for them to sit and relax, other than the bed.

A comfortable chair in the corner of the room is a great way to add functionality to the space.

And if you have the room, you could even include a small side table where your guests can set their belongings or enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning.

3. Add Include a place to sit

I’m a firm believer that you can never have too many light sources in a room!

I like to have a mix of overhead lighting and lamps so that guests can customize the brightness according to their needs.

That said, I also recommend that you install a dimmer switch on the overhead lights in your guest bedroom.

That way, guests can adjust the lighting to their preference without having to mess with a bunch of lamps!

4. Make it easy for guests to control the temperature

Nothing is worse than being too hot or too cold when you’re trying to sleep, and

I’ve been in plenty of guest bedrooms where I’m flipping the thermostat on and off all night.

To help guests easily control the temperature in your guest bedroom, add a small space heater or a fan to the room,

or provide a portable thermostat like a Nest that they can use to control the temperature in the room.

5. Add a few personal touches

One of the best ways to make your guests feel at home is to add a few personal touches to their space.

This could be anything from fresh flowers to a few of their favorite snacks.

If you know your guests well, you can add personal touches that you know they’ll love.

If you’re hosting people you don’t know very well, you can still make an effort to get to know them a little bit before they arrive and add some personal touches based on what you learn.

Even something as simple as a welcome note can go a long way in making your guests feel special.

6. Make it easy for guests to unpack

The last thing your guests will want to do is live out of a suitcase. To make them feel more at home, clear out a few drawers and make some space in the closet.

If you have a guest bathroom, you can also clear out some space under the sink or on a shelf for guests to store their things.

7. Think about the bathroom

If you have a guest bedroom, you should also have a guest bathroom.

It’s important to have a space for your guests to get ready in the morning and to have a space where they can store their toiletries.

You don’t have to go all out with a full bathroom if you don’t have the space. A half bath or even a powder room will do just fine.

Just make sure you have a designated space for your guests to get ready and store their toiletries.

8. Keep it clean

This might sound obvious, but keeping the room clean is key. Be sure to dust, vacuum and change the linens between guests.

And don’t forget to wipe down all surfaces, including the nightstand, table, lamp and remote control, with a disinfectant spray.

If you’re not sure what to clean, think about what you would expect if you were staying in a hotel.

Conclusion
